The Centrale Chiara Rose garden was the dream of Peter Chiavaroli, Director of Pentridge Village, and today it has become a reality.
The Celebrity and Events rose trails will radiate from this scenic courtyard forming a major feature and attraction for all types of people in the future – shoppers, diners, tourists, business owners and, of course, the residents of Pentridge Village Centrale.
Designed and implemented by a highly skilled team, including the award-winning architect of the State Rose garden at Werribee Park, the themed rose trails will eventually boast over 2,000 varieties when completed.
The Celebrity Rose Trail represents varieties that have been named in honour of movie stars, athletes and identities, both Australian and international. The names of the blooms range from ‘Ian Thorpe’ to ‘Barbara Stiesand’, and ‘Picasso’ to ‘Makaby Diva’ – even a champion horse is celebrated.
The Events Rose Trail celebrates a wide range of events, and important factors that made events possible. Some of the notable blooms are the ‘Olympic Torch’, the ‘Red Cross’, the ‘Silver Jubilee’ and ‘The Endeavour’ – there’s even ‘Stars and Stripes’.
Located in a heritage precinct that was the former offices of the Prison Governor, the Centrale Chiara Rose Garden is now a favoured venue for celebrations and events, including weddings.
